Seattle Dog Park: Blue Dog Pond

Our usual neighborhood dog park is closed for improvements this week so we had to venture out looking for a new one to take the dogs to in the meantime.

After a bit of Googling my husband found Blue Dog Pond off-leash dog park really close by. I actually drive by it every day to go to work and never noticed it before. It’s not a huge park but it has some more diverse terrain than our usual park so the dogs enjoyed running up and down the little hill.

My husband attempted to play fetch with them while we were there. Check out how amazing they are at it:

Yeah.

They aren’t going to be winning any fetching awards any time soon. I will say later in the day Grizzly did it successfully about five or six times in a row.

The park doesn’t include a pond, if you were wondering, but it does include a lot of mud and puddles (this time of year all the dog parks do). As you can see we did not manage to keep the dogs from getting mud all over them:

Ranger & Grizzly at Blue Dog Pond Dog Park in Seattle

Grizzly got particularly muddy after taking a nose dive into a bunch of mud at the bottom of the hill while chasing Ranger down it. It was pretty brutal to watch, poor thing. He got up like a champ, shook it off, and kept on playing, though!

To get to the park you walk down some stairs into it, so it’s below street level. It has a large empty space for dogs to run around, some sculptures, and a trail the dogs can run up to and back. The dogs seemed to enjoy it and we did too regardless of how cold it was outside. It was really cold.

Alright, until next time!
