We have been using the meal delivery service Blue Apron for a few years now and love it. Majority of the meals are good and easy to make and it saves me time and energy trying to come up with different meals every week. We get three meals per week for the two of us and the other days I’ll make something easy like spaghetti or we go out. It works great.
So when The Farmer’s Dog dog food delivery service was advertised to me on Facebook I was intrigued. I quickly visited the site to learn more.

First you fill out information about your dogs – their weight, breed, any issues they have, etc and then you are presented with some meal choices. After completing the sign up process I was presented with this:

Yikes. That was some serious sticker shock, even with the discounted trial period. For comparison, I currently feed them Taste of the Wild dry kibble at $46.54 per 28 pound bag which lasts them about one month. So I’m looking at $427.80 vs $46.54 per month. That’s a huge difference – and while I love my dogs dearly I am not willing to spend that kind of money on dog food each month.
It’s disappointing because I had been considering changing their diet and thought this was an interesting option. Even crazy dog moms like me aren’t willing to pay that much for dog food – are they?
Have you tried this or another dog food service? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
