Pacific Beach State Park

We spent the weekend at Pacific Beach State Park (I’m going to visit every coastal state park until I find the best one) with some friends and had a nice time.

The park is right on the beach, which was really nice, but designed more like a parking lot than a park. The sites all squeezed in close with no privacy barriers. We rented a yurt/trailer spot combo so we had probably the best site in park but it still wasn’t that great.

The marine layer was thick so it was cold and not exactly “beach weather” even in July, but we expected that. Not much to do in the area except walk the beach so we did that a few times and as there no dog-related signs we let the boys off-leash.

We had a foster dog with us as well, Fred, who seemed pretty confused by the beach but I think enjoyed it. He certainly made claim to the trailer bed.

We took a little trip to nearby — for lunch and walked around the tiny town for a bit. There was a farmers market and some cute little stores, including a pet store.

We ate at a dog friendly restaurant (on the patio) but the food wasn’t very good so I won’t recommend it.

All told not the most fun trip we’ve been on but it was nice being near the beach and escaping the ultra hot temperatures in Seattle. I’m still looking for my favorite Washington beach town!
