Stub Stewart State Park

I booked three nights at this campground in NW Oregon sort of last minute after some other plans fell through. I booked it because it was one of the very few places with spots still available and it was on our route.

I’m so glad I did! This is one of the absolute best campgrounds we’ve visited so far and definitely the most dog-friendly campground we’ve ever visited.

The sites are all pretty nice but standard state park type sites, all right next to each other. The west loop sites are much better than the east loop sites, though.

The campground has a ton of short trails winding through it which provides endless choices for dog walks.

It also has a fenced off-leash dog area with the best view I’ve ever seen from a dog park.

Not part of the campground but nearby is the super dog-friendly Oregon vineyard Apolloni Vineyards where we did a wine tasting and played some bocce.

Dogs were welcome both inside the tasting room and outside. Inside the tasting room they even sold a variety of Apolloni-branded dog items like collars, leashes, stuffed toys shaped like wine bottles, dog bandanas, and more. It was a beautiful and fun place to spend the afternoon.

Portland is only a 40 minute drive from the campground so if you’re here for awhile you can do a fun little day trip into the city. Portland is a pretty dog-friendly city in general so I won’t delve into it too much here but I will recommend visiting one of the good truck pods for a meal – variety, outdoor seating, and super dog-friendly.

If you’re looking for a really dog-friendly campground in Oregon I highly recommend this one!
