Last weekend we took the trailer and the pups out to Western Washington to stay a couple nights at Potlatch State Park. The park itself is not very big and is right on HWY 101 – so it doesn’t feel like an escape to nature but it was conveniently located to drive to other nice places in the area. Across the highway from the campground is a oyster beach – if you have a shellfish license you can harvest oysters and mussels. We saw a lot of people doing this but did not do it ourselves as we did not get a license.
Part of the weekend was cold and rainy, as you can see from the below photo.

We walked the dogs along the beach but I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you put some little booties on your dog’s paws. The beach is very rocky and is littered with sharp oyster, mussel, and clam shells from people harvesting the shellfish there. There were also quite a few dead jellyfish blobs scattered around – not good for puppy paws.

We drove out to Lake Cushman and did the Mount Rose hike – well, we attempted the Mount Rose hike. It is no joke. Steep, steep, steep all the way up. I called it quits about four miles in. But the view of the lake from the parking area was beautiful:

After hiking we stopped by a small diner right off HWY 101 for some lunch. The boys relaxed underneath one of the tables outside and we ate our burgers.
